Debt for Nature Swaps: A New Conservation Tool in the Eastern Caribbean

I still haven’t figured how Debt-for-Nature swaps work, but they obviously will be a key funding instrument for the nascent Caribbean Challenge, which will be a new experience for the Eastern Caribbean (OECS, more or less) SIDS — Jamaica and the Dominican Republic have had prior Debt-for-Nature project experience.

The attached article by Professor Nicole Hassoun of the Department of Philosophy of Carnegie Mellon University explores some of the issues and risks involved in Debt-for-Nature swaps (Prof. Hassoun is clear in this paper that Debt for Climate concerns are basically a subset of Debt for Nature issues.)
